Mark Verkey PGA Professional

Hometown: Rochester, New York

Mark Verkey was born and raised in Rochester, New York but moved to Titusville, Florida in 1985 where he finished high school and attended the University of Central Florida. Mark graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1995 and obtained his membership to the PGA in 1998.

Mark was introduced to the game of golf by his grandfather, competed in High School golf matches and turned pro during his sophomore year of college. Golf was always a love for him and he has had an aspiration to one day manage his own facility. Although the dream of playing on the tour was an aspiration it did not take long to realize that there is some tough competition on the PGA tour.

Previous positions Mark has held are the first assistant at Royal Oak Resort, assistant golf professional at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club, and head golf professional at ChampionsGate. All of these facilities with their experiences has groomed and prepared Mark for his current position of Facility Manager at the Palmer Legends Country Club.

Lynne Burke Golf Staff Lead

Hometown: Erie, Pennsylvania

Lynne moved to The Villages in July of 2006 with her husband, Michael and has worked for GMS since March, 2007. In her former life, she was a business instructor at a two year post-secondary school and most recently worked at a large social service agency managing programs and writing grants. She enjoys playing golf, pool, bridge and The Villages lifestyle.

Bill Shelley Golf Staff Lead

Hometown: Virginia Beach, VA

Bill and his wife, Jane, moved to The Villages in 2015 from Virginia Beach, VA. Bill spent 20 years in the Navy, then 12 years with Verizon and 10 years with Poe Enterprises before retiring. Bill enjoys playing golf, bowling, spending time with his grandkids, and The Villages lifestyle.

Kevin Cheney Golf Staff Lead

Hometown: Beverly, MA

Kevin comes to us from the New England area. Kevin has spent time in the Armed Forces, exploring opportunities and was an Insurance Manager. Kevin is married to his sweetheart, Julie. Both Kevin and Julie moved to the Villages in July 2017. He enjoys pickleball and golf.
